Malaysian small and medium enterprises are once again being given a strategic push toward growth and transformation, as applications for the Innovation and Technology Programme Grant (Program Inovasi dan Teknologi, PITH) are now officially open.
Introduced by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) this initiative is designed to support micro, small and medium enterprises in upgrading their operations through automation and digitalisation.
With funding of up to RM100,000, the programme aims to help businesses improve productivity, reduce inefficiencies, and remain competitive in an increasingly digital economy.

PITH 2026: Driving Productivity Through Technology Adoption
At its core, PITH 2026 focuses on enabling SMEs to embrace modern tools and systems that can elevate their day-to-day operations. This includes investments in machine automation (automasi mesin), system integration, and digital platforms (pendigitalan perniagaan) that streamline processes and improve output quality.
For many SMEs, the transition toward automation and digitalisation often comes with high upfront costs. This grant helps bridge that gap, allowing businesses to modernise without placing excessive strain on their finances.
A Platform for Growth

While the financial support is a key highlight, PITH 2026 goes beyond just funding. Successful applicants may also benefit from technical advisory, consultancy support, and assistance in obtaining industry certifications such as HACCP, GMP, and ISO.
These additional components are critical. They not only enhance operational efficiency but also strengthen brand credibility and customer trust, especially for businesses looking to expand into new markets or scale their production capabilities.
PITH 2026: Who Can Apply
To ensure the grant is channelled to businesses that are genuinely ready to grow, several key eligibility criteria have been outlined:
- Applicants must be micro, small and medium enterprises (Perusahaan Mikro, Kecil dan Sederhana, PMKS) that are legally registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia, SSM) or other recognised bodies.
- The applying company must be fully owned by Malaysian citizens, with no foreign shareholding.
- The business must have been in operation for at least six (6) months, demonstrating a basic level of operational stability.
- Priority may be given to companies with valid and active halal certification (pensijilan halal), particularly those with at least six months remaining before expiry.
- Applicants are also required to meet any additional criteria set by the implementing agency from time to time.
These requirements are designed to ensure that the support reaches businesses that are capable of effectively utilising the funding to drive meaningful growth.
Application Deadline Approaching
Entrepreneurs interested in applying should take note that the deadline for submission is 3 May 2026.
Applications are conducted online, with a streamlined process designed to make it easier for SMEs to submit the necessary information and supporting documents.

Given the limited window, early application is strongly encouraged to avoid last-minute issues.
A Strategic Push Toward a Digital Economy
PITH 2026 reflects Malaysia’s broader ambition to accelerate SME transformation and strengthen the country’s digital economy. By equipping businesses with the right tools and support, initiatives like this play a key role in building a more resilient and future-ready entrepreneurial ecosystem.
For SMEs looking to improve efficiency, scale operations, or take their business to the next level, this is not just a grant. It is a timely opportunity to invest in long-term growth.
