MEDKAD an award-winning start-up has pioneered this innovation which is set to change the medical benefits landscape for employers Malaysia in a big way.
The app named after the company are available to download on your mobile phone via Apple Store or Android Store and they are set to go. Ideally, employees have to make advance payments and rely on the traditional records when visiting a clinic. With MedKad, everything is recorded in the app.
2. The idea behind MedKad
The idea first came when both the co-founders, Ezuan Yaacob and Ahmad Azlan who have had many years of experience in the medical industry and overseeing third party administrations, saw the need for a medical benefits automation system.
The app enables all parties to elevate current administrative problems, fraudulent claims and limited access faced by clinics, hospitals as well as employers and employees alike when seeking treatment.
The team further assisted by Abdul Malik, the CFO and Fareez Idham the COO.
3. Vast experience in medical benefits system
The team has previous experience in the medical benefit system where Ezuan, Azlan and Malik had past working experience with GLCs. They frequently used their company medical benefits which were managed by a Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
As for Fareez, the COO, he previously worked for a TPA company and was in charge of his company’s medical benefits in-house.
4. Keep track of employees’ medical activities
The app is easy to use with a user-friendly design which allows patients to utilise its services with ease.
Once a staff visits any of MedKad panel clinics, an immediate notification will be sent to the employer or company. For the budget tracking, it comes with an automated monitoring on each employee’s respective medical capping to avoid budget burst.
As for panels, MedKad is able to disburse payments to clinics within five days which reaffirms their claim of providing fast and efficient services.
5. The benefits of using MedKad
For employers, the benefits of using MedKad compared to traditional methods is that there are no hidden fees and no capital expenditure required. It is based off a self-funding pay per use model. Besides employers will also get real-time notifications when an employee uses the app platform at any of the panels.
There is no need to carry around physical cards as everything is done through the mobile app and you can find the nearest panel through the app.
6. Targeting to have 200,000 users by 2019
Currently, MedKad has over 1,300 panels and 5,000 users from 60 different companies and is continuously working hard to increase the number nationwide.
