The largest installation yet is now in SkyAvenue, Genting Highland
Since its unveiling last December, the giant LED screen located in the huge atrium of SkyAvenue has been the main attraction to many local and foreign visitors. And this year, to complement the screening, Resorts World Genting has recently added the biggest permanent winch installation with kinetic balls display in the region. Using the same robust system used at the Olympics ceremonies to add dimension and depth, the result is a panoramic, immersive, nature-themed electronic presentation with joyous music and motion. If you have been impressed with the giant LED screen shows, the latest installation will surely top it off.
The largest permanent winch installation and the first multimedia winch attraction in Asia, the show consists of Kinetic balls which are plastic globes with an LED light inside. Each ball moves independently on a long cable attached to a motor which controls the height of a ball’s descent or ascent. The balls move vertically in order to be assembled into a series of programmed shapes. Each of these balls is suspended from a four-story-high ceiling and is the fastest programmed winch speed at 17.5 meters in six seconds, making it the largest number of kinetic balls used in one single fixed display to date. Together with the LED screens, the 1001 kinetic balls form the world’s first electronic art installation which will see storylines projected on the LED screens while the kinetic balls move to form shapes to support the story’s premise or trajectory.
There are currently three inaugural shows, namely the Forest, Urban Symphony and The Goddess.
Forest: Set in a bioluminescent universe, the presentation gives guests a rare opportunity to see endangered species unique to Southeast Asia come to life. Colourful and fluorescent 3D gesture drawings are used to demonstrate a striking coexistence of these diverse exotic populations. Just be ready to spot the Sumatran tiger, Bornean orangutan, Asian elephant, Sumatran rhinoceros, and the hornbills during the show.
Urban Symphony: a light-hearted take on everyday life working in the big city. It is paired with a jolly selection of music, which adds a new groove to the daily grind.
The Goddess: inspired by a magical kingdom above the clouds, the show is an imaginative narration about the beauty of creation. Real actors play the role of creators who conjure life forms into existence.
